Dennis Hall elected Vice Chancellor of the CSI College of Fellows

At the 2011 Annual Meeting of the CSI College of Fellows, in Chicago, Dennis Hall was elected Vice Chancellor of the CSI College of Fellows.  He will assume to office of Chancellor of the College in September 2012, at the Annual Meeting of the College, in Phoenix.  The purpose of the College of Fellows is to: engage Fellows in educational and charitable activities; stimulate the sharing of interest among Fellows; and promote the mission of CSI

Fellowship is the highest honor (with the exception of Honorary Membership) in the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI). These members have made achievements above and beyond participation in ordinary Institute, Region, and Chapter events and made important contributions in one or more of the following categories: advancement of construction technology, improvement of construction specifications, education, or service to the Institute.  Dennis Hall was elevated to Fellowship on June 24, 2000 ,for his notable contributions to the construction industry. Since the establishment of Fellowship in 1959, approximately 350 individuals have received the title of Fellow in the Construction Specifications Institute.

Mr. Hall Represents CSI at buildingSMART Alliance™ Board of Direction Meeting

Dennis Hall, FAIA, FCSI is representing the Construction Specifications Institute at the buildingSMART alliance™ Board of Direction meeting in Washington, DC, an event co-located with ecobuild America. The buildingSMART alliance™ is a unique international  organization supporting open Building Information Modeling through the life cycle of a project. They promoting building SMART to build GREEN, improving business processes, development of new business models, and extending the value chain to the entire life cycle. The buildingSMART alliance™ hase teamed up with CSI and several other industry organizations to produce practice tools including the buildingSMART Data Dictionary (IFD), buildingSMART Processes (IDM) and buildingSMART Data model (IFC).

Revolution Regional Learning Academy Receives NOMA Design Award 

The National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA) has awarded the Revolution Regional Learning Academy in Charlotte, North Carolina with its 2011 Design Excellence Honor Award. The 30,000 SF sports and learning center is located in the historic Revolution Park neighborhood and is currently under review as a certified LEED Gold building by the US Green Building Council. The design and construction incorporates local and regional materials into a unique facility that complements the historic neighborhood while establishing a modern and distinct presence. Daylighting was incorporated into the design through clerestory windows.

 

The project team worked hard to ensure the facility design and construction would provide an aesthetic, functional, sustainable, and durable public building. Quality can only be achieved through teamwork and this project represents the high standard of building performance that can be achieved through collaboration and hard work.

Proposed topics and select courses for inclusion in the conference program are based on relevancy, overall quality of submission, practical application of ideas, level of audience interaction and speaking experience. "Care and Feeding of Your Specifier" Presentation by Nina Giglio

Working with a specifier can be a challenge!

Nina Giglio, CSI, CCS, SCIP will explore the importance of understanding what a specifier can do for a project while providing tools for developing a working relationship that will benefit the entire process in her presentation, on December 13 from 2-3pm ET.

This webinar will benefit design professionals and project managers who are working with specifiers to assist the team in producing a better project. This session will also help facility managers and owners to understand the role of a specifier, and how their input is vital in the development of a project.
